The Spartan Super was held at the same place as yesterday's Spartan Sprint - Georgia International Horse Park in Conyers, GA. We had a slightly earlier start wave today, so I arrived just a bit earlier than yesterday. I wasn't on as much of a time crunch today either since I didn't have a race beforehand, I shopped merch yesterday, and I was familiar with the race area.
I got my stuff gear checked and hit up the porto a few minutes before my wave opened which was perfect timing. Everything was the same drill as yesterday, so it was nice to have already gone through the same pre-race.
Saturday was strictly the sprint distance (which was about 4 miles) and Sunday was only Super distance (8+ish miles). While the Atlanta Sprint was 22 obstacles and the Super was 29 obstacles, they shared four of the same miles and the same 22 obstacles from yesterday were on today's Super course. That means I was going to be pretty familiar with what lays ahead today. Only four miles with five miles would be foreign territory to me.
The pro to this is that I am mentally prepared for those miles and obstacles. The con? I have to deal with that stupid bucket again. Ever since yesterday afternoon I was dreading the Clif Bucket Brigade again, but I sucked it up and yelled at that dang bucket worse than yesterday.
Once we got past the mud-fest, it was home free basically. The new obstacles that we took on between mile 4 and 9 (yes, 9) were a number of walls (Stairway, 8' wall, and Z Wall) along with a plate drag and crawls (barbed wire crawl and low crawl). The final half mile or so was the same as yesterday along with the same final five obstacles.
